A self-professed AfroGeek, Shawn Taylor is a writer, university lecturer, and scholar of Afrofuturism and the ethno-speculative, science fiction, comic books and culture, propaganda, hip-hop, psychogeogrpahy, mythology and folklore, and popular culture. He strives to find the justice and equity intersections of his scholarship and praxis. This has taken the form of  his hosting art installations, exploring ideas of media representation, to being a founding author of, a premiere site for POC geekery, and a founding organizer of the Black Comix Arts Festival, a festival that highlights and promotes artists on the margins of the mainstream comic book industry. Shawn is also a highly sought after public speaker, group facilitator, and event host. Recently, he has been acting as a creative consultant to several media companies.
